Server 2008R2 and Exchange 2010 End of Life

If you have read our blog or seen our social media recently you know that Windows 7 is approaching its end of life. Additionally, starting on January 14^th of 2020, Microsoft will no longer support Windows Server 2008R2 or Exchange 2010.  This means that your servers running these operating systems will no longer receive critical security updates or customer service from Microsoft. You can still use the operating system – but at your own risk.

What can you do to be prepared?

• Upgrading to a new system requires time and planning. You should start looking forward to your 2019 Q3 – 2020 Q1 budget in preparation for these upgrades.

• Review your current machines. It may make more sense to replace an antiquated machine instead of investing in it for the upgrade.

• Consider critical software or programs and ensure they are compatible with the new operating system. 

• Use this opportunity to consider moving away from an onsite email server or local file server.
