Windows 7 approaches its End of Life cycle. Here is what you need to know.
Starting on January 14th of 2020 Microsoft will no longer support Windows 7. This means that your Windows 7 computers will no longer receive security updates or customer service from Microsoft. You can still use the operating system – but at your own risk.
What needs to happen to be prepared?
-
Upgrading to a new system requires time and planning. You should start looking forward to your 2019 Q1 – 2020 Q1 budget in preparation for these upgrades.
-
Review your current machines. It may make more sense to replace an antiquated machine instead of investing $$$ into it for the upgrade.
-
Plan for employee training to learn the new system.
-
Consider critical software or programs and ensure they are compatible with Windows 10
Salvus will be conducting End of Life readiness reviews for our clients. We will be reaching out with a full report of the Windows 7 machines in your environment with recommendations to help you plan and budget for the eventual upgrades.
